Primary school students' perceptions of the quality of school life (an example of the town of Bursa Yildirim)

The main purpose of this study is to investigate students? perceptions about the quality of school life in their primary schools.This study was carried out in three primary schools which were randomly selected from primary schools and located in the centre county of Bursa which is named Yıldırım and the sample consisted of total 300 students.Quality of School Life Scale (QSL) which was developed by Sarı (2007) was used to gather data after its factor and reliability analysis were done.In the data analysis, frequency and percentage, arithmetic means were used. In order to determine whether or not there have been any differences with respect to students? gender the t test was used, and in order to determine whether or not there have been any differences with respect to students?school type, class levels and students? families? educational level, the variance (ANOVA) analysis was used.Results show that students perceived the quality of life in their schools at = 3.31 interms of 1-5 scale. Research indicates that children from high socio economic status schools develop more favourable perceptions about quality of school life compared to children from lower socio economic status schools, there are significant differences between perceptions of male and female students about quality of life in their schools to the advantage of female students enh there aresignificant differences too between pupils? perceptions about the quality of school life, moreover it?s concluded that there aren?t any significiant differences according to grade of students.Key Words: Quality of School Life,Quality of School Life Scale.
