The relation between job motivation and particating in decision making of primary school teachers

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this reseach is to reveal the relationship of motivation level among teachers working at public primary schools by determining their situation of particating into decisions taken at their schools and their perceptions about their wants.The enviroment of the study is composed of 2043 teachers who work at public primary schools in Eskişehir, Odunpazarı during 2010?2011 educational period. Data is observed from 353 of them which is determined by ?simple accidental sampling method.?During the research; ?Survey For Participate In Decisions? which composed from ?Form A? and ?Form B? is used to determine the teachers? situation of participating into the decisions taken at schools and their wants of participate. Also ?Motivation Scale? is used to determine their motivation level and ?Personal Information Form? to detemine personal information.The relational scanning model is used during the research, the observed data is analyzed by the package programme SPSS 16.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. Frequency, percentage, arithmetical average, standart deviation, t-test, ANOVA and simple correlation analyze are used for evaluating data observed from surveys.Signifance level p<0.05 is accepted as criterion at testing significance of differences.The results observed from the research are:Presently teachers who work at primary schools participate ?a little? to the decisions those are taken at school, while they want to participate ? a lot?Teachers who work at primary schools partipate ?a little? to the decisons about educational issues while they do ? very little? to managerial ones.There is no significant difference of participating into decisions between teachers work at primary schools in terms of sex, seniority and branch variables.The level of job motivation of teachers work at primary schools is at ?pretty? level.There is no significant difference among motivation levels those belongs their motivational sub-dimension of teachers work at primary schools.There is no significant difference of job motivation between teachers work at primary schools in terms of sex, seniority and branch variables.There is a linear, positive and high level relationship between teachers? motivation and participation of decision.Key Words: Participation in Decision Making, Motivation, Primary School Teachers
