Teachers work alienation in elementary school

This research aimed to determine the level of the alienation to work ofelementary school teachers, depending on the teachers? comments.The data was taken from 514 elementary school teachers chosen among 784teachers using the method of ?simple spontaneous sample?.The data for the research was gathered by using the ?Work Alienation Scale?for elementary school teachers developed by Elma (2003). The SPSS (StatisticalPackage For Social Sciences) was used analyze the data gathered. In order todetermine whether or not there has been any difference among the teachers?perceptions in the dimensions of work alienation according to sex and subject areavariables, the t-test was used. On the other hand, variance analysis (One-WayANOVA) was used to determine whether or not there has been any difference amongthe teachers? age, educational and work experience status.Statistics according to this research show that the level of the teachers?powerlessness, isolation and alienation to school has been low. On the other hand, ithas been found out that the highest level of teachers? alienation to work is that thefirst X :2,64 on the occasional level then X :1,96 on the rare level for thedimensions of powerlessness, as the lowest dimensions X :1,44 for the dimensionsof meaningfulness ?on the never level? and finally X :1,66 for the dimensions ofisolation on the never level .Generally, it has been found out that the level of the alienation to work of theelementary school teachers is ?on the rare level? with rate X :1,92.Key Words: Alienation, Work Alienation, Teachers In Elementary School
