Abstract (EN)

in ABSTRACT It is a well-known fact that art has a big importance and is an indispencible part of the life. It is known that human being makes art for excitement, teaching, due to fear and sometimes in order to express themselves and relax. Art education is a must in order for art that's being made with these motives to make human beings reach the targeted objectives or at least to start the processes of aesthetics and critics in the minds of humans. The education of art has been given by experts. However, how good these experts (teachers and academicians) have been managing this important and hard mission can be measured by the feedbacks (quality of the knowledge of the students educated) and critics faced by the experts. In order to identify the the importance given to the visual art teachers and courses and evaluation made about the courses and the teachers, attitude scales and questionnaires have been prepared and presented to the directorsand teachers in the primary schools. The attitudes of the teachers and directors about the visual art teachers and courses were tried to be analised through questions that include almost every possible opinion and point of view. Research universe is the primary schools connected with the National Education Direstorate of Ankara and the sample is the 30 primary schools (27 public, 3 private) determined from 3 central districts chosen with Stratified Sampling Method. The implementation of data collection is limited with the second level branch teachers and school directors. Data collection medium and its implementation has been made directly by the researcher after a literature search. Research results have been extracted with the help of SPSS for Windows 12.0 software programme. Data was analised by implementing "RxC Diagonal Table" for independency control after extracting frequency tables and implementing Chi-square tests to determine the relationships. A snapshot of analysis of research results is as foolws: It is observed that most of the teachers did not grasp the necessity and the importance of the visual art courses. It is observed that most of the teachers think that visual art courses affect the future of the students. It is observed that most of the teachers think that the technical abilities the visual art courses give to the students are insufficient. Most of the teachers think that visual art courses have objective criteria like the mathematics, physics etc. It is observed that most of the teachers think that visual art tearchers have a more important role of transferring culture compared to the other branch teachers. It is impossible to reach to the targeted and ideal level of art education without understanding the important mission of visual art education and visual art teachers.
