Difficulties that school managers face in management

Expectations of school managers are increasing day by day as a leader. As well as these expectations, growing and confusing bureaucracy, increasing school needs, inefficiency of human and fund source make it more difficult. The situation becomes more puzzled when added training school managers besides these problems. A leader is a person with a vision, courage, knowledge and experience enabling him/her to make accurate decisions and to have a perfect group strategy and tactical plans as well as taking prudent risks. In this research ı have worked on ?the problems of school managers in school management?. The research consists of introduction, management, education management, managers and leaders, educational leadership and related researches, methods, findings, comments, results. The research is applied in İstanbul, Fatih and Eminönü regions in 2007/2008 educational year in the public schools to 112 school managers and deputy managers. Likert tests are used and SPSS statistic program is used in analyzing the input data. The input data is analyzed using frequency, percentage, arithmetic average, standard deviation and T test in accordance with the proposes. In the last part of research, the findings about the problems are mentioned. With the ratio of %91, 7 school managers cant select their stuff, with the ratio of %88, 9 seniors don?t take into consideration of their juniors? propositions, with the ratio of %85, 7 inadequate fund for school needs are the basic problems in school management.Key Words: management, manager, leader, educational manager, educational institution.
