Primary class teachers? with cognitive development areas of the knowledge level of relation between their student?s academic success

With this research, the primary class teachers? the level of knowledge in the areas of cognitive development of the relation between students' academic success is intended to determine.For the research 2008-2009 academic year, 15 centers in Manisa province and Demirci District 63 classroom teachers from primary schools in villages and their students in 1132 has been reached. First phase of schools can be reached in three, four and fifth grade students exam results of the experiment, the students' academic success is determined. In the second phase to determine the level of teachers' cognitive knowledge of expert opinion developed by researchers based "cognitive knowledge test" was implemented.In this study, relational screening method used and datas was calculated with percentage, frequency, correlation, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test. Significance level considered to be 0,05 and analysis was performed with SPSS 16 program.According to research findings, classroom teachers increased their level of knowledge in the area of cognitive development, the academic achievement levels of students in classes is increasing in a meaningful way. Teacher in the field of cognitive development, especially the fifth grade students with knowledge of the overall academic success of the third and fourth year students based on overall academic achievement is related more to the conclusion that was reached. Moreover, the level of knowledge in the area of cognitive development and life of teacher information, English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science and technology courses at the secondary level, reaching the conclusion that positive and meaningful relationships are formed. These results shows the primary class teachers? level of knowledge in the areas of cognitive development that is associated significant with the students' academic achievement.Teachers? level of knowledge in the areas of cognitive development vary according to the profession in the service period significantly; according to the their genders, education levels, graduation areas does not vary significantly.Based on the findings obtained, can be said the primary teachers level of knowledge in the areas of cognitive development will be made developing studies to improve students' academic success efforts.
