The role of color element on the covers of primary school Turkish textbooks in providing visual unity

This paper has been prepared to study the role of color element on the covers primary school 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks in providing visual unity, which were published during 2008-2009 educational year and used in schools affiliated to the Ministry of Education. In line with this purpose, specialists graduated from graphic design department participating in the survey were asked questions about the sufficiency of colors of graphic elements on the covers of Turkish textbooks in providing visual unity and their relevant opinions were obtained by means of graphics-related questions.Target population of the study consists of 30 specialists who have taken college education regarding graphics. The survey which has been prepared for collecting relevant data has been applied to 30 people and the data obtained have been analyzed by means of percentage and frequency method.The following findings have been obtained at the end of the study:-The color used on the illustration of the covers of primary school 6th grade Turkish textbooks and in the comparison of its design elements has been found to be partially sufficient, while the color used in typography has been found to be sufficient and the color used in background has been found to be insufficient.-The color used on the illustrations of the covers of primary school 7th gradeTurkish textbooks and the ones used in the comparison of its design elements and background have all been found to be partially sufficient while the one used in typography has been found to be insufficient.-The color used on the illustrations of the covers of primary school 8th gradeTurkish textbooks and the ones used in its typography and comparisons of design elements have all been found sufficient while the colors used in its background has been found partially sufficient.Within this context the covers of 6th and 7th grade textbooks have been found to be partially sufficient while 8th grade textbook has been found to be sufficient.
