Evaluation of 1 st stage application of primary education writing training program according to teachers views

ABSTRACT In this research, evaluation of the 1st stage application of the program of writing training in primary education has been made to the views of the teachers. A search of the relevant literature has been made for the evaluation of the program of writing training. In accordance with the elements of object, conduct, content, education situation, tools and apparatus, method and techniques, and evaluation, a preliminary questionnaire has been submitted to the teachers appropriate to the program evaluation criteria. This preliminary questionnaire has been revised then, and the entries with no effect have been reorganized. The questionnaire has been submitted to the primary education teachers. The data found out in consequence of the questionnaire has been stated in terms of percentage, medium, and standard deviation. The variables of the research are gender, length of service, and education degree. The "t" test has been applied for the independent variables of the research - gender and education degree. And analysis of "one-way variance" has been made for the length of service. The findings of the research may be summarized as follows: 1. While the efficiency of the program of writing training in primary education in classes 1 to 5 has been found out to be mean in accordance with the elements of object, conduct, content, education situation, tools and apparatus, method and techniques, and evaluation, it has been determined that more illustrative examples should take place in the preparation of the elements of the program. 2. It has been asked to the teachers even if they have any views regarding "the problems in the writing styles of the letters started in the program", where 57.1% of the teachers (48 persons) has found the writing styles of the letters TC YÜKSEKÖ?RETİM Kl^JfVI appropriate, 42.9% (36 persons) has started views on some letters. The point to be regarded is that the children could not get used to the writing of some letters and that some changes could be made in their writing. 3. In the program of writing training, repetition of numbers and punctuation marks as Per the classes is an appropriate decision. When compared to the previous writing program, the chages are somewhat positive. 4. In accordance with the findings of the research, it has been found out that there is no significant difference between the views of the female and male teachers regarding the object, count, content, education situation, tools and apparatus, method and techniques, and evaluation elemets of the writing training program. 5. When compared to the length of service, it has been found out that there is no significant difference between the views of the teachers, regarding the object, count, content, education situation, tools and apparatus, method and techniques, and evaluation elements of the writing training program, and that the opinions did not differ according to the length of service. 6. When compared to education degree, it has been found out that there is no significant difference between the views of the teachers, regarding the object, count, content, education situation, tools and apparatus, method and techniques, and evaluation elements of the writing training program, and that the opinions did not differ according to the education degree. Therefore, it has been concluded that the program, in general was successful, and with the fulfillment of the deficiencies it would completely fit the program evaluation criteria and could be developed more towards practice.
