Abstract (EN)

In this study, the effects of concept and mind mapping on student achievement, attitude and persistence of information in mind, that is studied in fourth grade elementary school science and technology lessons under ?Planet Earth? topic, is investigated.Experimental studies are conducted in Amasya 75.Yıl IMKB Bayezit Elementary School in 2010-2011 Second Semester with 26 students during four weeks. Students are educated by Concept and Mind Mapping Method during the experiment.In the study, Academic Achievement Test related to ?Planet Earth? unit and Attitude Scale to determine attitude towards science and technology is used. Academic achievement test and attitude scale towards science and technology, is applied as a pre-test and post-test. One month later Academic Achievement test is administered to determine effect of Concept and Mind Map on permanence of information taught in lectures.The data obtained in this study is analyzed by dependent t test.As a result of this research, the students' academic achievement post test scores have significantly higher than pre test scores. Although the students' attitudes toward science and technology test, pre test scores have been found higher than post test scores. Additionally, the positive effects of education that is given with concept and mind mapping on persistence of information in mind, is found.
