Investigation of the relationship between triarchic abilities and social emotional adjustment in primary school 4th grade students

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between triarchic intelligence and social emotional adjustment levels of primary school 4th grade students. For this purpose, it was also examined whether there was a difference according to the gender, number of siblings, education level of the parents and the status of obtaining a certificate of achievement. The sample of this research, which was designed in the relational scanning model, consisted of 342 4th grade students from schools in Şanlıurfa city center (Eyyübiye, Haliliye, Karaköprü). "Sternberg Triarchic Abilities Test", "Social Emotional Adjustment Scale" and personal information form developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools in the research. In addition to descriptive statistics in the analysis of the data, independent groups t-test, one-way analysis of variance and correlation analysis techniques were used for the purposes of the research. As a result of the research, the triarchic intelligence scores of the students were found to be moderate for the practical intelligence dimension and weak in terms of the other dimensions (analytical, creative) and the total score. While there was a statistically significant difference between triarchic intelligence and father's education level and students' academic achievement levels, no significant difference was found in terms of gender, number of siblings and mother's education level. Students' social-emotional adjustment was found to be high. While there was a significant difference between students' social-emotional adjustment levels, father's education level and academic achievement level, no significant difference was found between gender, number of siblings and mother's education levels. When the relationship between triarchic intelligence and social emotional adjustment scores is examined; It is seen that there is a low-level significant relationship between the creative intelligence dimension and the social emotional adaptation (r=0.140) and the sub-dimension of responding appropriately to the social situation and the sense of struggle (r=0.148). As a result, it was seen that triarchic intelligence and social emotional harmony were in interaction with each other in line with the findings obtained.
