Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted in the 2020-2021 academic year in order to examine the use of augmented reality supported digital stories in improving the creative writing skills of primary school fourth grade students. The study group consists of 10 students studying at Sivas Cebecioğlu Primary School. In the research, "action research", one of the qualitative research methods, was used. "Semi-Structured Interview Form Regarding the Evaluation of Creative Writing Practices Made with Augmented Reality Supported Digital Storytelling According to Teachers' Views" developed by the researcher, the "Creative Writing Products Evaluation Scale (YARYÜDÖ)" developed by Kasap (2019) and the researcher's diary constitute the data collection tools of the research. Descriptive analysis and content analysis were used in the analysis of the data. In the study, the use of augmented reality supported digital stories in improving the creative writing skills of primary school fourth grade students was examined. In the research, students were asked to write stories with classical methods in the pre-action process, and during the action process, augmented reality supported digital story application training was given and students were asked to create stories on the digital platform. The stories created were evaluated by two teachers, and their opinions were taken at the end of the process. As a result of the research, it was seen that the students showed low and moderate performance in the stories they wrote with classical methods, and they were reluctant to write stories. In creating augmented reality-supported digital stories, it was observed that the students performed at a higher level than the stories they wrote with classical methods, and they became more willing to write stories. From the answers given by the two teachers, whose opinions were taken at the end of the action process, to the questions asked, it was concluded that the students created more creative stories in general with the use of augmented reality supported digital stories. In addition, it has been concluded that the use of augmented reality supported digital stories provides students with gains such as developing imagination, gaining a different perspective, meaningful writing, and dominance in writing.
