Vocabulary development of primary school fourth grade knowledge and the use of cultural language elements: Love for the homeland and flag

This research was created to analyzing the vocabulary of 4th grade primary school students, their use of cultural languages, their styles of expression, and their love of homeland and flag. One of the most important purposes of education is the transfer of culture and values. One of the general aims of our national education is raising 'the citizens who embrace, protect and develop the national characteristics, human, spiritual and cultural values of the Turkish nation and love their homeland and nation.' Since the content of cultural language activities includes national values such as the lifestyle, world view, distinctive and prominent features of the Turks, the inclusion and learning of education has a positive impact on children both in ensuring the self-acquisition of Turkish and in supporting to building up their national identity. Qualified research methods were used in the research. The design of the research is the basic qualitative research design. The semi-conducted interview formula and its compositions were used in this research. The research was conducted on 58 students attending the 4th grade in a village primary school. The research continued for a period. It can be said that applying of cultural language activities has a positive impact on using cultural language elements and the development of national identity awareness. When the students were observed, their style of expressions was differed from each other. While they were using the epic style for love of flag, they used literary arts for the love of homeland.
