Evaluation of elementary lifescience curriculum program in terms of raligious education

Life science lesson is a fundamental lesson among other elementary lessons in that it includes the knowledge of existence/life. Children find out the relationship between life and school by using learnings from the life-science lesson in the daily life. Because of the importance of this reason, life-science lesson is educated in first three years of elementary school since 1926. During these three years, there is no any religious education lessons in the elementary school curriculum. In this study, the help of life science lesson based on religious education and meeting elementary age-group children's needs is analyzed. The first part of study is about education of elementary-age children, religion among elementary-age children, the necessity of religious education, supporting of the necessity of religious education and some topics related to religious education. In the second part of study, it is examined the history and the importance of life science lesson and the place of elementary school, the relationship of life science lesson between other courses and religious education. The third part of study is about the examination of life science lesson objectives according to religious education based on philosophical, individual, and social base and the examination life science themes according to religious education. In this study, objectives including terms about religious education is showed in a table and is contrast with Education of Religion and Ethics lesson objectives by exemplifying with the verses of the Qur'an. All of these are interpreted then a general assessment is done. In the fourth and last part of this study, sample lesson plans are prepared by choosing an objective about an investigated term.
