Abstract (EN)

This study covers the evaluation of the use of digital devices by elementary school students from a parental point of view. The study was conducted in the 2019-2020 academic year with the parents of children in central primary schools in Erzincan Province. The study was carried out by qualitative research method and the situation study pattern was used. As a data collection tool, a semi-structured interview form called "Determining the Digital Play Usage of Students in Primary Schools from a Parental Point of View" wasused. The collected data was transferred to the computer environment and the analyses were evaluated. In the study, it was found that students have easy Access to digital devices and often have these opportunities. Parents; students are concerned about negative situations such as safety, physical, mental health and addiction in their use of digital devices and they think that they have a positive contribution in terms of education and personal development. Parents can use more positive methods such as spending time together, outdoor activities or psychological counseling while taking restrictive and distancing measures such as time constraints and parental control programs to protect their students from the negative effects of digital devices.
