Investigation of primary school students 'perceptions about digital games

This study was conducted to examine the perceptions of primary school students towards digital games. The study group consisted of 389 children from 3rd, 4th and 4th grade students from 4 primary schools in Erzurum city center. The study was conducted with quantitative research method. In this study, a 21-item questionnaire was developed to examine the perceptions of the elementary school students and their digital playing situations. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS program and evaluated with statistical methods. According to the results of the analysis, it is found that there is a relationship between the dependence of students and being affected by digital games. It has been found that there is a significant effect between discouraging students from digital game and addiction among students. In addition, it was determined that the attention of the student to abandon the games was directed to other activities and parental control was significantly effective. As the education level of the mothers increased, they were found to be more effective in directing the attention of the students and controlling their children as parents. In addition, it was determined that there was no relationship between gender, school status, mother and father education levels in order to discourage students from digital games.
