Professional motivation perceptions of primary and secondary school principals (Case of Bolu province)

In this descriptive survey model study, it is aimed at determining the professional motivation perceptions of primary and secondary school principals, identifying whether these perceptions show any difference in accordance with principals' personal characteristics and types of schools.The populatıon and sub-population of the study consist of total 96 principals working at primary and secondary schools under the Directorate of National Education in Bolu province in 2014-2015 academic year. The data necessary for the study is gathered through "Scale of Professional Motivation" developed by Ural (1996). In the data analysis procedure, so as to determine the differences of perceptions between the groups, Independent sample t-test and Mann-Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis were used. According to the analysis of the results, a significant difference between the perception of professional motivation of primary school principals and willingness to choose the professionwas determined. Besides, a significant difference between the perception of professional motivation of secondary school principals and the number of teachers and students in their schoolswas determined. Also a significant difference in the subdimensional study between perception of professional motivation of primary and secondary school principals and the economical income of the profession was detected.
