Özet (EN)

The aim of this research is to examine the opinions of classroom teachers regarding the removal of exams in primary school. The research was conducted with the phenomenological design, one of the qualitative research methods. The participants consist of 25 classroom teachers working at Şehit Kamil Çelikkaya Primary School and İbrahim Karaoğlanoğlu Primary School in Yerköy district of Yozgat province in the 2023-2024 academic year. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used as the data collection tool. The interview data were transcribed in a computer environment. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis method. As a result of the research, it was understood that the removal of exams affected the roles and responsibilities of teachers in educational processes, and in this case, teachers could pay more attention to students individually and use more flexible methods to increase motivation. It was stated that the removal of exams had positive effects in terms of students' interest and motivation in lessons, that the exam-focused system created anxiety in students and harmed the learning process. Based on the research results, it is suggested that different evaluation methods should be developed for student monitoring. In addition, it is emphasized that teachers should be supported in this process and in-service training programs should be implemented to adapt to alternative methods. 2025, xi + 65 Pages Keywords: Primary School, Exam, Class Teacher, Discussion
