An evaluation of English course books and auxilary course books at third grade primary schools: The views of the teachers i̇n Diyarbakır city

The aim of this study is to determine teachers' views about coursebooks and auxilary coursebooks used at third grade classes both in state and private primary schools in Diyarbakır. In this study survey method was used. This study was carried out with 139 English language teachers working in primary schools of Diyarbakır. " The Coursebooks Evaluation Questionnaire" developed by Çelik (2011) was used. The data obtained through the questionnaire was analysed by using percentage, fruquency and Independent Samples t-test. The result of the study indicate that there is significant difference between teachers views about the coursebooks and auxilary coursebooks used at private primary schools and state schools. Teachers views indicate that the coursebooks and auxilary coursebooks family and friends used in private primary schools are more effective than coursebooks taught in state schools.
