Analysis of al-Risâlah fî mâ lâ Yajûz al-Waqf Alayh fî al-Quran attributed to al-Mâturîdî in the context of his comprehension of faith and disbelief

Al-Imam al-Maturidi is an important kalam scholar who keeps the balance between reason and revelation and uses the kalam method effectively, and is therefore respected by a large group. Especially in recent years, many studies have been done about him and symposiums have been organized. In the studies carried out, it was revealed that just two works named Kitâb al-Tawhid and Ta'wilat al-Quran belong to him. Apart from these two, there are also different works that are said to belong to him. One of them is a tractate (risâlah) named al-Risâlah Fi Ma La Yajûz al-Waqf Alayh Fi al-Quran In Risâlah, which started with a statement stating that it belongs to al-Maturidi, the reader is declared infidel due to the deliberate halt in fifty-six places in the Quran. The content of the work has been evaluated by taking into account the ideas and views of al-Maturidi about faith and infidelity. In addition, the stops in the Quranic verses that mentioned in Risâlah were examined from Ta'wilat al-Quran. There is no information and explanation in the mentioned work regarding the fact that it is forbidden to stop at related places in the Quran and that the reader should be declared as infidel when he made a stop. Considering that the provisions in Risâlah do not exist in Ta'wilat al-Quran and the views of al-Maturidi on faith and infidelity, the possibility of Risâlah belonging to him is not valid.
