Abstract (EN)

The hadith "A believer does not commit adultery as a believer while he commits adultery" emphasizes the state of a believer while sinning. This hadith, which gives information about the situation of a believer during his sin, is mentioned as one of the hadiths used by many faith sects as evidence about the situation of those who commit major sins. There are three views regarding the individuals who commit major sins. The first view argues that believers who commit such sins should be considered as disbeliever while the second group claims those people are between belief and disbelief. The third view regards those who commit these sins as sinful believers. The scope of our study will be to examine the hadith, which is found in many hadith collections, and we witness its usage mostly in doctrinal discussions, to reveal the status of the narrators in the transfer script, and analyze hadith text. Our aim with this thesis is to make a small contribution to the world of science by revealing the authenticity of the hadith that is the subject of our study and revealing how the hadith should be understood and interpreted by referring to ancient works.
