Abstract (EN)
One of the major problem in the water pollution is the wastewater orginated textile and dye industries. This wastewater causes serious pollution and damages ecological environment The aim of this work is to understand the adsorption mechanisms of Reactive Black 5 (RB5), Reactive Blue 21 (RB21), Acid Brown 283 (AB283) and Basic Violete 3 (BV3) azo dyestuff by inactivated sludge. In this study, 25-50-75-100-150 mg/L dyestuff solutions are treated with 1 g inactivated sludge. It was found that the efficiency of removal was about 93.4 % for BV3, 27.23% for AB283, 17.7% for RB21 and 1.7% for RB5 dyestuff for 150 mg/L dyestuff solution. In order to understand the mechanisms of the adsorption, various isotherms and kinetics were used and constants of each isotherms and kinetics were calculated for each dyestuff.
