Abstract (EN)

Infertility is the failure of pregnancy or the inability to maintain pregnancy despite having unprotected sexual intercourse three or four times a week for at least one year in couples with a woman's age below 35, and in couples over 35 for six months. The research was conducted descriptively to determine the domestic violence experienced by infertile women and their coping methods. 173 women who applied to Düzce University Health Application and Research Center Infertility Outpatient Clinic between January and December 2018 constituted the sample of the study. The data of the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Domestic Violence Scale, and the Coping Scale for Infertile Women. The obtained data were evaluated using descriptive statistical analysis in computer environment, parametric or non-parametric tests according to the distribution of the data. In the research; the average age of women is 31.89 ± 6.74, the average age of their spouse is 35.50 ± 7.38, the duration of marriage varies between 1 and 30 years (mean 6.82 ± 5.67), most of the women (40.6%) between the ages, (30.9%) having a university or higher degree and working (55.4%), 85.1% of them live in a nuclear family consisting of at least three persons, in the city center (52%), 67.4% ' fame was fondly and willingly married to his wife, most of them (77.1%) had infertility problems in the first five years, 36.6% of them did not know the reason for not being able to have children, and 32.0% of them had female factors, It was determined that 76.0% of them are currently receiving treatment, but 65.10% have not been treated before. Women are most exposed to emotional, verbal, economic and sexual violence. They have been found to use hope, spousal relationships, self-investment, seeking social support, acceptance, and spiritual coping. It has been suggested that domestic violence should be taken into consideration while providing care to infertile couples and that couples who are identified with domestic violence should be directed to the necessary places for counseling.
