Abstract (EN)

English is a universal language, so it is becoming more and more important to teach and learn the language in a more interactive, efficient, and long-lasting method. For this reason, various strategies, techniques, and approaches have begun to be used. It was precisely from this requirement that literature became important in English language teaching. This study aims to look at the situation in question, "The usage of short stories in ELT and what are the teachers' views on the topic?". The primary goal of this study is to clearly present the viewpoints of teachers, who are the key participants in the field, on the topic. The role and significance of utilizing short stories in a foreign language were also examined in the study. The qualitative method was used in this research. Initially, support was received from the field experts to determine the questions in the interview. After conducting interviews with sixteen distinct teachers, the role of the short stories in foreign language teaching was examined, and it became clear that the role of the short story is unquestionably significant. According to the findings obtained from the teachers' opinions, using short stories, a literature technique, has made language teaching easier and more fun. However, it has been expressed as a common view that short stories have various disadvantages in its application phase due to negative factors such as the intensity of the curriculum, students' interest and attitudes towards the course, the socio-economic status of the families and the density of the classes.
