The activities of Kazım Karabekir in İnönü period

Kazım Karabekir who is one of the most important figures of Turkish military and political history, is confronted as a soldier and politician and he gave great services in the Balkan, First World and Turkish Independence Wars. After World War I, he supported Mustafa Kemal Ataturk and the congresses and initiated a liberation movement in the East. Especially during the National Struggle, the military operations he leaded in the East are very important for the Republic of Turkey. Karabekir became a key name for the National Struggle with the military and ammunition sent to the Western Front as well as he got Turkey's first militaryvictory.With the closure of the Eastern Front in September 1921, he came to Ankara and started working as a parliamenterian. Later, he set up the Progressive Republican Party with his friends by falling in contradiction on some issues with Atatürk. In 1926 he was judged for the planned İzmir Assasination against Atatürk and he was retired. After his retirement he retreated in some way. He has been under strict follow-up until the death of Atatürk and after his death he has taken his place in the political scene again in the period of İnönü. Karabekir ,who constituted our subject, was in Turkish Grand National Assembly nearly for 10 years as the deputy of İstanbul during the period of İnönü.He organized trips to various parts of the country and participated to lots of meetings. Karabekir successfully executed the task of the Turkish Grand National Assembly between 5 July 1946 and his death date 26 January 1948. The purpose of this study is to reveal the activities of Kâzım Karabekir from 1938 to 1948 in detail. For this reason, in the last part of the study, Karabekir's political life, travels and other activities during the İnönü Period were explained in detail.
