Abstract (EN)

The Relationship Between Perspective To Vaccines And Health Literacy In Students of Inonu Universty Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the point of view of the university youth who will be the parents of the future to vaccines and to determine their relation to health literacy. Material and Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study. The study universe is the students of Inonu University and the smallest sample size that we need to reach is 295 people and they are reached by making cluster sampling on the basis of faculties. The questionnaire is consist of socio-demographic characteristics, the vaccine perspective questions and Turkey Health Literacy Scale (Tsoy 32). Findings: 335 people has reached in our study. The average age of the participants was 21,80 ± 3.06,and 150 (44.9%) were male and 184 (55.1%) were females. 251 (75.1%) participants were gave "yes it is effective" 4(%11,3) participants "no it is not", 69(%20,7) of participants "partially effective'' and 10(%3) participants "I have no idea'' answers to the queastion of "Are vaccinations effective?''. When we looked at the statistical significance between the scores of the health literacy scale according to the descriptive characteristics of the individuals, there was a statistically significant difference between the groups according to the sex and income distributions (p = 0.001 and 0.037), while there was no statistically significant difference between the scores of the health literacy scale according to the faculty groups and sibling numbers (p = 0.127 and 0.837). There was a statistically significant relationship between the responses to the question of question "Which is the main source of your opinion about vaccinations? and the health literacy categories(P = 0,034). Results: As people increase their levels of health literacy, perspectives on vaccination are changing and their resistance to faulty and biased information is increasing. The level of health literacy should be increased in order to improve the perspectives on vaccination. Key Words: Health literacy, vaccination, universities
