Abstract (EN)
In this study, a PLC controlled Charpy and Izod impact testing machine with 290 J capacity was designed and manufactured in accordance with TS EN ISO 148-1 and ASTM E23 standards. In the research, the impact transition temperatures of the construction steels produced in Turkey in the B500B-00, B500C-00, GR60T-01, GR60T-BR, GR60T-02 standards were determined in the range of maximum 60 °C and minimum -30 °C temperatures with this impact testing machine. and fracture surfaces were examined and necessary inferences were made. As a result of the tests, the Charpy impact fracture energies of 5 different quality construction steels were measured between 76-105 J at 60 °C and 14-20 J at -30 °C. Izod impact fracture energies were measured between 100-135 J at 60 °C and between 35-48 J at -30 °C. It has been determined that the impact transition temperatures of 5 different quality construction steels examined in this thesis range from 35 °C to -5 °C. All the results obtained were evaluated together and showed that the Charpy&Izod impact machine works correctly.
