Abstract (EN)

The main objective of this thesis is to develop three dimentional web based interactive models that capture structural and functional characteristics of human eye as well as digital animation of mechanisms of vision. The models and other artifacts created as partof this work are used to put together an educational process and related modules. The physiological anatomy of the eye, retinal cells, visual pathways and visual cortex are modeled in three dimensions. The main principles of eye optics, eye lens and its mechanisms, phototransduction, visual acuity, color vision and refractive errors are captured in two and three dimensional animations. Virtual, interactive presentations of eye muscles as well as nine diffferent eye movements are also developed. A web based interactive educational system is built using the visual models and other material conceived as part of this work. The educational modules are designed to provide mobile access in addition to web browsers. A survey designed to capture user feedback is integrated into the system. The survey results as well as on-going user feedback collected by the system shall be analysed to evaluate effectiveness of interactive educational methods as part of a post thesis study.
