Asylum and migration policy of political groups in the European Parliament in the context of human rights

It can be said that along with the existence of human history, there is also the phenomenon of migration. It is known that immigrants cause many changes in the countries they migrate to. With the beginning of migration, there are changes in economic, political, social, cultural and other fields. The European Union has become the target point of migration movements due to its good living standards, democracy, rule of law and sensitivity to human rights. Most of the migrants on their way to the European Union apply for asylum. The European Union has been experiencing great difficulties due to the mass migration movements in recent times. Mass migration flows to the European Union has put the values of the Union to the test. The European Union has started to implement security-oriented policies in order to cope with mass migrations. Its policies on immigration and asylum have led to the emergence of human rights problems. In this study, after the definition of human rights, the stages it went through in the historical process have been examined. Afterwards, the European Union, the European Parliament and its political groups are discussed in detail. After revealing the differences between the concepts of immigrant, asylum seeker and refugee, it has been tried to determine what human rights are in the case of asylum and migration in the context of international conventions. The asylum and immigration policies of 7 political groups within the European Parliament have been examined. Thus, the sensitivity of the asylum and immigration policies of 7 political groups in the context of human rights has been evaluated.
