Relationship between human corpus callosum areas and non-verbal IQ

8. SUMMARY In this study, the relationships between the areas of corpus collusum and Non verbal IQ (nvIQ) values were studied on a group of 43 subjects, 18 of the subjects were men and 25 were women. The whole group was seperated into two main groups, one including only men and other including only women, for statistical analysis. Then all of the test subjects were divided into six subgroups, which included, respectively, all right-handed subjects, all left-handed subjects, the right-handed men, the right-handed women subjects, left-handed men subjects and the left-handed women subjects. Because of in the last six subgroups divided considering laterization values, hand preference values were also added to those subgroups for statistical analysis. Negative relationships between the area of total corpus callosum and the nvIQ and between the area of isthmus and the nvIQ value were observed in the all women group (p<0.05, r:-0.412), (p<0.05, r:-0.440). In the all right handed group, a negative and significant relationship was observed between the nvIQ value and the hand preference score (p<0.01, r:-0.55). A strong relationship was found between the nvIQ value and the hand preference score in the group of right handed men subjects (p<0.01, r:-0.81), while a negative and significant relationship between the nvIQ value and the area of ishmus was observed in the right-handed women (p<0.05, r.-0.60).
