ABSTRACTPhD ThesisANALYSIS OF MMIC CIRCUITS BY USING INTEGRAL EQUATION METHOD (IEM)Zülfü GENÇUniversity of FiratInstitute of Applied SciencesMain Division of Electrical-Electronics Engineering2006, Page: 79In this study, numerically efficient computer aided design (CAD) software package, which analysis planar layered microwave circuits by using mixed potential integral equation,(MPIE) has been developed. Numerical technique, which has been employed, uses closed formvector and scalar Green Function and to solve mixed potential integral equation, spatial methodof moments is employed. Solution in this developed method starts with obtaining spatial form ofGreen function from its spectral counterpart by using Sommerfeld identity. After that, unknowncurrent distribution on the metallization of the circuits is expressed in terms of known basisfunctions with unknown coefficients. Then, weighting functions which are identical to currentfunctions are used to find unknown coefficients. Finally, circuit characteristics such as inputimpedance, S-parameters and radiation pattern can be easily found by using these currentcoefficients. These obtained results have also been compared with commercial analysis tools toshown the accuracy.Key Words: Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit, MMIC, Full-wave Analysis, PlanarLayered Green Function, Mixed Potential Integral Equation, Method of Moments, ComputerAided Design.I
