Özet (EN)

In this study, ?Instructor and Course Evaluation Implemantation/Application? , prepared for evaluating the teaching performances of instructors, was used. By using this implementation, it is aimed to reach tangible data to improve the internet based application method by taking into consideration of students? views. Also, this data is going to be helpful for giving information about the validity and reliability of the method and comparing with internet based application method and the other application methods and overcoming the deficiencies among those methods. It is also aimed to give new ideas to the quality improvement units of the higher education instutions. It was generally examined of the students? ideas about evaluating the instructors by the students themselves and students? perceptions were assigned about the internet based method. Moreover, it is presented here that the students? strategies of the answering the questionnaires and their suggestions about the internet based method and the other methods which may be useful, were determined. This is a descriptive study and is based on a review model. ?Internet Based Instructor and Course Evaluation Application Evaluation Questionaire? is prepared by the researcher and it contains five open ended questions. This questionaire is applied on 150 university students studying at Maths, Science, Geography, Turkish Language, Art and Music education departments of Gazi University Education Faculty at 2010-2011 education year. Students perceptions and suggestions were examined. The collected datum are resolved by using ? Conventional Content Analysis, with Percentage and Frequency.?The acquired findings show that students have positive ideas about evaluating instructors by students. However, it was determined that students also have had anxiety about the application method of the evaluation. Because, it is applied by internet based method and they think their identities may be learned by instructors or by the other related persons, so student said they may be harmed by those who are responsible for teaching the course. Beside this, students criticize the timing of the evaluation. They claimed that it shouldn?t have done on the same day with the day of examinations results are announced. They also claimed that exam results should be reached without answering the questionaire but the results couldn?t be seen before answering the questions. According to students, application and evaluation system should be restructured again. In addition to this, students? strategies of scoring are analyzed and it is determined that students score instructors according to their personal attitudes towards their instructors, for exampe; likes or dislikes, or according to the feelings while answering the questions. On the other hand, it seems that students focus on the examination results and in order to see the exam results they answer the survey questions without checking the alternative choices and focus on the only one choice. Only a few students indicate that they read the survey questions and answer them fairly and objectively.According to the students? suggestions about the internet based application, the timing of the evaluation application should be changed, obligation to fill out the questionaire should be put aside and secrecy should be based on. Moreover, long survey questions should be restructured again. Generally, for instructor and course evaluation application, method suggestions focus on paper and pencil questionaires or face-to-face evaluations. Because, students claimed that they may use their own sentence, may be more objective while evaluating. On the other hand, a few students suggest the internet based application method for evaluation of the course and instructor teaching performance.Considered that, internet based evaluation method becomes widespread in the higher education instutions in Turkey gradually, this study?s findings are going to give clues to implementers and administrators.
