Endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms with the flow diverter silk stent

Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Endovascular Treatment of Intracranial Aneurysms with the Flow Diverter Silk Stent Purpose: In this study, we aimed to present the efficacy and safety of the flow diverter Silk stent (Balt, Montmorency, France) in the treatment of wide-necked and fusiform intracranial aneurysms by evaluating the patients treated with Silk stent. Materials and method: Aged from 27-52 (mean 52.4), 43 female, 26 male 69 patient were included into the this study. Eighty-three Silk stents were used. Eihgty-nine aneurysms were treated with Silk stent. Eighteen aneurysms had been tretaed endovascular or surgically before. In 27 aneurysms concomitant coil embolization was performed. One patient was in the acute phase of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Results: Three stents misdeployment had occured (3.6%). All the stents were implanted into the aimed localization with a technical success of 100%. The mean clinical and angiographic follow-up time were 29.2 months. In one patient during the procedure, in another patient just after the procedure, in another patient in 3rd month, in another one in 6th month and in one patient in 14th month thromboembolic complications had occured (Thromboembolic complication rate 7.2%). In one patient permanent right hemiparesis has occured in the 3rd month due to left internal carotid artery occlusion (Permanent morbidity rate 1.4%). One patient died in the 2nd month due to hydrocephaly, another one patient died in the 14th month due to left vertebral artery occlusion (Mortality rate 2.9%). In six patients (8.7%) in-stent stenosis occured in long time follow-up. Total aneurysm occlusion rate was 88.5%. Conclusion: The flow diverter Silk stent implantation with or without concomitant coil embolization is a safe end efficient method in the treatment of intracranial aneurysms.
