Investigating the barriers to circular economy implementation: A case study of Mali and Kenya

This study focused on the barrier to the circular economy implementation in MALI and KENYA. This research aims to comprehend implementation difficulties in the manufacturing and service sectors. With the use of both the sector and service sector, enough information will be gathered to help fill the study's huge research and knowledge gap. The research analyzed the concept of CE and, most important, the concept of CE in the supply chain. The study adopted a DEMATEL approach based on assessing the barriers associated with adopting a circular economy as an economic model in MALI. This combination is targeted at the subjectivity and fuzziness of human judgments. Sixteen circular economy experts served as the study's sample (Experts from KENYA). The study's findings indicate that several specific barriers need to be addressed to increase the adoption of the business model in the nation. The top influential barriers include the Lack of adequate technologies (CB1), Lack of incentives for circular activities (CB2), Lack of organizational polices and strategies (CB3), Lack of laws and regulations towards CE (CB4), Lack of management commitment (CB5), Lack of customer awareness (CB6), Lack of effective workforce (CB7), Lack of knowledge and proper training (CB8), Lack of collaboration among supply chain members (CB12), Resistance to change (CB13) and Lack of national policies towards CE (CB14 ).
