Abstract (EN)

This study is important because it addresses a clinical study of great importance in the community, namely the assessment of the immune status of autistic patients and an attempt to find appropriate solutions. The study was designed to assess immune status by measuring cytokines Interleukin-6 (IL-6), Interleukin-27 (IL-27), Interleukin-37 (IL-37), Interleukin-29 (IL-29), tumor necrosis factor-𝛼 (TNF-𝛼), interferon-𝛾 (IFN-𝛾) and Immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM). One of the main problems with ASD research is the wide variety of phenotypes that are grouped under the same term and cannot be dismissed as different pathologies with different pathophysiological mechanisms, although they share the same challenges. In this sense, new techniques such as metabolomic profiling may contribute to clarify the origin of the different phenotypes of ASD, thanks to their potential to perform a global analysis of low molecular weight metabolites that may be associated with systemic alterations. These findings point to the potential for an immunogenetic theory that could compile evidence on immune system alterations, candidate genes for vulnerability to these alterations, and the impact of these alterations on neurodevelopment.
