Abstract (EN)
Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a common complication in diabetics, chronic inflammation also plays an important role in the development, and progression of T2DM. Recent evidence suggests that the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) affects the development and acceleration of some diabetic complications. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and the present level of diabetic nephropathy (DN). In the present study, it has been found that serum levels of glucose and the rate of MPO concentrations were higher in T2DM patients. Patients with nephropathy presented higher MPO levels that correlate positively with the albumin/creatinine ratio. In addition, nephropathic patients showed increased (NLR) which was accompanied by, a rise in levels of the proinflammatory cytokine tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-a), and the adhesion molecule E-selectin. Furthermore, MPO levels were positive, correlated with DN. The result of present study leads to the hypothesis that T2DM induces oxidative stress, an increase in MPO levels, leukocyte-endothelium interactions, and that these effects correlate with the development of nephropathy. 2021, 88 pages Keywords: Myeloperoxidase, Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte, Inflammation, Diabetic nephropathy, Type 2 diabetes
