Evaluation of the quality of life of COVID-19 patients in Kirkuk, Iraq

This descriptive study was conducted from May to August 2022 to examine the quality of life of 300 hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Kirkuk, Iraq. The SF-36 questionnaire was used. The scale reliability of the questionnaire was 71.6%. Data were evaluated using IBM SPSS (Version 25) descriptive statistical methods, normality test, Mann Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis H Test, non-parametric pairwise comparison tests, Spearman's Correlation test. 51.7% of the patients participating in the study were male, 86.7% were married, 26.3% were secondary school graduates, 31.3% were unemployed, 74.3% had income equal to their expenses, 82%, It was determined that 3 of them had children and 85% lived in the city. Physical Function sub-dimension mean 78.57±26.59 ; Physical Role Difficulty sub-dimension mean 38.67± 44.15; Emotional Role Difficulty sub-dimension mean 34.67±43.08; The energy-vitality-vitality sub-dimension average was 48.67±10.09; Mental Health sub-dimension mean 63.13±15.10; Social Functioning sub-dimension mean 65.25±22.49; Pain Sub-dimension Mean 58.16±26.27; General Health Perception Sub-dimension mean 63.70±21.38; the total mean score is 60.98±17.18. According to physical function dimension, marital status, education, income, employment status, presence of children, having COVID-19 in the family, COVID-19 treatment, presence of chronic disease; Physical role difficulty, education, smoking, working status, income, chronic disease, according to the place where they live most; The dimension of emotional role difficulty is based on education, employment status, income, chronic illness, place of residence; Energy-Vitality-Vitality sub-dimension according to education, marital status, employment status and chronic illness; Mental health dimension; by employment, income, chronic illness, family history of COVID-19, COVID-19 treatment status; Social functionality dimension is according to gender, employment, income, presence of chronic disease; According to the pain dimension according to gender, education, employment status, income, presence of children, place of residence and chronic disease, the dimension of general health perception is marital status, education, employment status, income, presence of children, place of residence, having COVID-19 in family, chronic disease. disease, according to the treatment of COVID-19; The total health scale differs according to marital status, education, employment status, income, having a chronic disease, and COVID-19 treatment (p<0.05). The quality of life of COVID-19 patients is limited. It is recommended to support patients' quality of life and meet their needs.
