Abstract (EN)
Objective: To assess nurses' knowledge and attitudes about COVID-19 in Kirkuk, Iraq Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in the hospitals of Kirkuk city, Iraq, from 20.10.2021 to 20.07.2022. The researcher consisted of a study sample of hospital nurses who were selected using non-probability samples (appropriate sample). The sample size was limited to, at least, 200 nurses who collected face-to-face data, "personal information model" "information about COVID-19" for data collection and nurses' attitudes Knowledge α = 0.92, Attitude Items α = 0.98, Practices α = 0.88 Results: The vast majority of nurses (42.5%) get the most information about COVID-19 from the Internet, 22.5% from the World Health Organization, the least (15%) from their friends and families, the majority of the study sample (52.0%) are female and the remainder are men, the majority of whom are between the ages of 31-35 and represent 25.5%. Regarding marital status, the majority of the participants are married, constituting 51% of the total sample. The majority of the sample, 56.5%, was infected with the COVID-19 virus. 47.5% of the study sample are people with 1-5 years of experience. 81% of the study sample stated that the infection can be transmitted from one person to another by droplet, and the largest part of the study sample stated that wearing a surgical mask during the shift is one of the effective methods. The majority of the study sample (66%) stated that a person suspected of having COVID-19 should be isolated to avoid possible infection. In addition, 100% responded that they were able to know the line number Hot Ministry of Public Health Conclusion: It has been decided that the nurses working in Kirkuk city hospitals have the knowledge, positive attitudes, and good practices about the virus, its transmission and prevention, and decided the need to spread the culture of infectious diseases among the different groups of society
