The relationship between bullying and self-esteem thatnurses are exposed to at Al-Haboubi Teaching Hospital in Nasiriye city Iraq

The aim of this study is to evaluate the bullying and self-esteem levels of nurses working in a hospital in Iraq and to evaluate the relationship between bullying and self-esteem in nurses. This study was conducted cross-sectionally and descriptively in training hospitals in Iraq between 01.08.2022 and 31.12.2022. The population of the research consists of nurses working in one of the hospitals in Iraq. According to G-power analysis, the sample number was determined to be at least 169 nurses. Data "Social and Demographic Characteristics of Nurses" form, Negative Behavior Questionnaire-Revised Arabic form (NAQ_R) to assess nurses' exposure to bullying in the workplace and using The Self-Esteem Scale Arabic form (RSE) collected face to face. The data were processed in SPSS 26 software as frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation and analyzed using ANOVA and t-test. P<0.05 was accepted as the significance level. The study showed that the majority of participants were between the ages of 20-35 and 56.2% were women. NAQ_R score average 45.62±15.39 while the RSE total score average was found to be 25.26±2.80. It was determined that there were statistically significant differences between NAQ_R and gender, and that there was no statistically significant difference between age, marital status, educational status and income satisfaction (p>0.05). While there are statistically significant differences between RSE and marital status, it has also been shown that there is no statistically significant difference between age, gender, educational status and income satisfaction. It was found that there was a negative relationship between NAQ_R and RSE. Training programs can be offered to nurses on dealing with bullying and enhancing self-esteem.
