Genotyping and detection of Staphylococcus spp. resistance genes isolated from different sources at Salah Eldin Hospital–Iraq

Abstract (EN)

The samples required for the study were taken from Salahuddin Hospital between March and July 2022. A total of 130 people from different age and gender groups were sampled. Examples; It has been taken from otitis media, nose and throat, urinary tract inflammation, burns, wounds. When the results obtained were examined, it was determined that 93 samples (71.53%) were positive in bacterial culture, whereas 37 samples (28.47%) were negative. The highest infection rate was detected in wound infections with 45.16%. This was followed by urinary tract infections with 19.35%, burns with 13.97%, middle ear infections with 11.82% and finally nose and throat infections with 9.67%. Antibiotic susceptibility test results of isolated bacterial isolates showed high antibiotic resistance. The resistance of the isolates against amoxicillin was 96.77%, azithromycin 64.52%, ciprofloxacin 56.99%, ceftaxime 88.17%, amikacin 88.17%, gentamicin 75.27%, trimethoprim 66.67%, meropenem 72.04% and vancomycin 73.12%. When the Staphylococcus aureus bacteria were examined in terms of virulence factor, the COA gene was found to be 100% for all samples, while the SPA and HLY genes were found to be 80%. Molecular diagnostic results using the genetic sequencing technique revealed that all the selected samples had the 16S rRNA gene at 100%.
