Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to evaluate the immunopathologic role of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines in patients with tonsillitis. Between April and June 2022, 120 patients infected with tonsillitis were reported in hospitals in Thi-Qar city. The experimental study was conducted in private laboratories in Thi-Qar province, Iraq. The study group was divided into a control group (40 healthy volunteers) and a patient group (80 tonsillitis patients). The results obtained revealed that IL-4 concentrations in patients were significantly (P<0.05) higher than in the control group. IL-6 concentrations were significantly (P<0.05) higher in patients compared to the control group. Our findings revealed a strong link between tonsillitis and the frequency of the SNP gene; they also suggest that IL6 cytokines should be considered as an important factor in achieving treatment response in tonsillitis patients.
