Abstract (EN)

This study is focused on the situation in the countries of conflicting parties before the outbreak of war, reasons behind the war, battles fought in the war, policies of other countries during the ongoing war and at the end, the consequences of the war within the context of Iran-Iraq War between 1980 and 1988. The first chapter of the study contains general information on parties of the war which are Iran and Iraq. In this chapter, the objective is to examine the aspects having impact on the outbreak addressing the historical background, political, economical and social characteristics of these countries. In this scope, the reasons of war is analyzed under the topics in second chapter. In the third chapter, the military attacks and operations by parties are reviewed. Fourth chapter is mainly focused on the policies of other countries not only in the same region but also outside of the region both during the war and after the war ended. It is aimed at presenting the consequences of the war and its impacts on the region in the final chapter.
