Abstract (EN)
In this study, which sought to answer the question of how the Islamic Revolution of Iran took place in Turkish journals, the revolution was first discussed in a conceptual and theoretical framework. In this context, by focusing on the background of the revolution, socio-economic, religious and political causes are discussed in detail and the stages of the process leading up to the revolution are covered chronologically. The domestic groups who were influential in the process preceding the revolution are analysed. In addition, prominent names and opinions that paved the way for a ground to the revolution are dealt with. In doing so, the post-revolutionary Iranian foreign policy, its impact on the world and Turkey; the perception of the revolution outside Iran and how the established order in Turkey approached it are studied. Narrowing down time period to the years 1978-1990, the study Islamic groups and political parties in Turkey are categorised as circles around tariqas, the intelligentsia and the magazines; through which way a general frame is drawn regarding these groups and related media platforms. Magazines related to the listed groups that directly address the revolution are Hareket, Diriliş, İktibas, Düşünce, Mavera, İslam, Hilal, Fedai, Sebil, Yeniden Milli Mücadele, Pınar, Girişim, İnsan, Aylık Dergi, Bu Meydan, Dış Politika, Son Karar, Akıncılar, Akıncı Güç, Şura, Tevhid, Hicret, İslami Hareket, Kriter, Nesil, İslam'ın İlk Emri Oku, Rayet, Altınoluk, Davet. The main parameters of the subject, "formal variables" and "contextual variables", were examined by the content analysis method based on the scanning model in news and articles. The main theme of the texts are designated in the context of the approach to the revolution and to Ayatollah Khomeini, positioning of the Shah and Shahdom regime; the way madhhab theme covered; concept of exporting the revolution, the Iraq-Iran War and the internal politics of Iran. What is attempted is, thus, to ascertain coverage patterns of the revolution and revolution-related developments to the readers by the magazines.
