Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this research is "how women are represented and revealing the censorship applied in this representation" in Iranian cinema. The issue of representation and censorship has been periodically explored on three films shot since the founding of the Islamic Republic of Iran. It is not a fair approach to compare other female artists with more individual rights and freedoms in the world cinema and Iranian female cinema artists performing their art with physical and psychological barriers. It is necessary to reevaluate the approaches that try to underestimate the achievements of Iranian female cinema artists who try to perform their art under the risk of censorship. Looking at the bad practices that see women as sexual objects in the West, putting excessive restrictions on women in film making and applying censorship will not advance Iranian cinema. Islamic Feminists also advocate that women take more active roles in social and artistic life. The constraints that hinder the development of the art of cinema will shift the demand towards external productions in today's society where watching movies has become a necessity. This will result in cultural alienation.
