Analysis of Irfan Gürkan Çelebi's biographical stories in terms of educational values

In recent years," Values Education " is a subject valued in education programs in our country.For instance, in the renewed 2018 Turkish Course Curriculum, a new regulation which is called "Educational Values" was introduced. It was paid attention that the literary texts, which are the main material of Turkish course, were at a level that children would adopt basic values. Because children's acquisition of national and universal values takes place through literary texts. When the related literature is reviewed, in the studies regarding educational values within the field of children's literature, one can barely encounter biography genre. In this study, therefore, İrfan Gürkan Çelebi's biographical stories addressing age groups from 10 to 14 are analysed in terms of educational values. The aim of this study is to determine the values in the stories and compare their compatibility with the values in the 2018 Turkish Course Curriculum. Qualitative research method was used in this research. The scope of this study, which were based on the surveying model of qualitative research approaches, is limited to the seven books written for age groups from 10 to 14 by İrfan Gürkan Çelebi: "My Hero Fatih, My Hero Mimar Sinan, My Hero Yunus Emre, My Hero Mevlana, My Hero Nasrettin Hoca, My Hero Ertuğrul and My Hero Osman Gazi." The values in the books were analysed by the researcher and compared with the fundamental values in the 2018 MEB Turkish Language Teaching Program.
