Abstract (EN)
Introduction: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS); it is characterized by abdominal pain, discomfort in the abdomen, changes in stool frequency and stool form. this disease can not be detected organic pathology and it is one of the most common gastrointestinal system disorders. However, according to the data of the World Health Organization(WHO), approximately 31% of all deaths, that is, approximately 17.9 million people, died due to cardiovascular diseases in 2016. In addition, individuals aged around 30 years without a known cardiovascular disease have a lifetime risk of developing a general cardiovascular disease approaching 50%. In this study, it was planned to compare cardiac risk factors and some anthropometric measurements in patients with irritable bowel syndrome with the normal case group. Material-Methods: 100 patients diagnosed with IBS according to the Rome-IV diagnostic criteria and 100 control group cases of similar age and gender without any systemic disease and drug use were included in the study. Age, gender, height, weight, office blood pressure measurement, waist circumference measurement, body mass index, lipid panel, fasting blood sugar, fasting insulin values of the patient group and control group were recorded. HOMA-IR (Insulin Resistance), Plasma Atherogenicity Index (PAI), Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI), Body Shape Index (ABSI), Framingham risk score, SCORE risk score, PROCAM risk score were calculated with the available data of the individuals. And these results were compared between groups. Results and Conclusıons: The patient group diagnosed with IBS and the control group were compared. Statistically, waist circumference, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting insulin, HOMA-IR, Visceral adiposity index (VAI), Body Shape Index (ABSI), Framingham risk score, 10-year CVD risk percentage calculated according to Framingham score, SCORE risk score, PROCAM risk score, 10-year CVD risk percentage calculated according to PROCAM score were found to be significant (p<0.05).
