Evaluation of occupational health and safety: A case study in a marina

Nowadays, marinas have become much more than the ports where boats are sheltered, wintered, repaired and supplied. It has become a center of attraction not only for boat users but also for tourists who are not boat users. Front office services, general services, accommodation services, port services and technical services are provided in various fields ranging from recreation activities to accommodation activities, from commercial areas to cultural centers. As per the works performed by the employees in these services that require different expertise, there are risks of encountering undesirable situations such as danger and accident. Occupational Health and Safety Act with Act No.6331 came into force and has created quite radical changes in working life in Turkey. The Act has provided flexibility to implement to the workplaces within the scope of the law depending on the hazard class and the number of employees, and the deadline was declared as July 2020 for the enterprises in the less dangerous class with employees less than 50 employees such as marinas.vii A case study carried out for this study in a marina and revealed occupational health and safety practices for marinas and the factors affecting the occupational health and safety attitudes of marina workers.
