Developing a decision support system in occupational health and safety

Increase in occurance of work place accidents and occupational diseases in small and medium sized enterprises draws attention. On the other hand, rising amount of fines by the legislation necessitates to place more importance to occupational health and safety practices. However, due to the fact that they don't have skilled labor force to ensure providing occupational health and safety services, the businesses have to outsource, which may generate problems and disordinance in terms of implementing and monitoring. Therefore, particularly in order to reduce the workload and avoid possible disordinance a decision support system has been developed. The basica aims of this decision support system is to conduct controls more reliably, provide efficient service, facilitate the monitoring, and details are not overlooked. In this study, a decision support system was designed with SQL data base and C# interface, and the modules are discribed one by one. Through this software, which is also able to perform necessary warnings and reminders, more reliable occupational health and safety services can be provided, thus, possible overlooks of the precautions must be taken or legal assesments must be renewed will be reduced to a minimum.
