Job Stres: An application for determining the job stres level of specialist psychiatry doctors working at mental health and disorders hospitals in Turkey

Abstract (EN)
The main target of this research is defining the relation of work stress variations withsome demographic variations and some other variations that might be related. Thisresearch is based on the data obtained by the application of a 70 test form to a group of71 people. In this research ?Work Environment Stress Scale? (Tatar, 2009) is applied.For the entire scale Cronbach alfa coefficient of reliability is 0.96. Five primarydimensions constituting the scales are ?Individual Specifications?, ?Relations BetweenIndividuals?, ?Environment Specifications?, ?Private Life?, ?Organizational Structure?and there are four secondary dimensions below ?individual? dimension. The Cronbachalpha coefficient of reliability for sub dimensions are 0.94 for ?IndividualSpecifications?, 0.73 for ?Relations Between Individuals?, 0.78 for ?EnvironmentSpecifications?, 0.76 for ?Private Life?, and 0.82 for ?Organizational Structure?. Withthe outcome of the research by considering the demographic and other specificationsrelated to job stress the job stress level of the specialist psychiatry doctors working atMental Health and Disorders Hospitals in Turkey has been tried to be evaluated.The first part of the research contains the subjects of description, importance andtheories of stress and organizational stress, description of stress at healthadministrations, factors creating organisational stress, results and management oforganizational stress. Second part; contains organizational stress and performanceinteraction including the definition of performans, factors effecting manpowerperformance in organizations and problems, approachs for increasing stress originatedlow performance.Some important conclusions obtained from the research are those: There is nosignificant diversity of specialist psychiatry doctors? job stress level at all stres scale subdimensions in terms of demogratic variables like age, gender, marital status, quantity ofmarriage, quantity of children, work status and work duration. There is significantdiversity of specialist psychiatry doctors? job stress level between hospitals for subdimensions of stress scale organizational structure and relations between individuals.There is significant diversity of specialist psychiatry doctors? job stress level at subdimensions of stress scale organizational structure and environmental specifications interms of quantity of experienced legal problems, experienced assaults and/orharrassments. There is no significant diversity of specialist psychiatry doctors? jobstress level at all sub dimensions in terms of alcohol consumption. There is significantdiversity of specialist psychiatry doctors? job stress level at stress scale organizationalstructure sub dimension in terms of cigarette consumption.
