Using creative drama method on coping with work-related stress

Abstract (EN)

Work stress affects the psychological and physical health of employees, leading to negative consequences. It is necessary to deal with individual and organizational sense with work stress. There are many ways to deal with work stress. Employees need to acquire specific knowledge, skills and behavior in order to teach and implement these ways. In this study, the knowledge, skills and behavioral training necessary to cope with work stress is given to employees in an applied form, with creative drama, a method which has not been used before in social sciences and working life. In the study, it is aimed to investigate creative drama method's effect on work stress and its usability on coping with work related stress. Investigation has been carried out with 32 experiments and 32 control groups both from public and private sectors, in total 64 volunteer participaters. 18 workshops of creative drama has been applied to the experiment group, whereas any applications done to control group. Work related stress, percieved stress and organizational stress of the participators has been located at the begining and the end of creative drama application by the help of scales. As a result of the analysed data, firstly, on the way of their work related stress levels, a meaningful decrease has been seen with their percieved and organizational stress levels. As for control group, no meaningful change has been found. Along with these results, it seems possible to say that creative drama method can be used on coping with work related stress.
