The relationship between intimidation and organizational silence: A study on energy sector

Abstract (EN)

The objective of this research is to determine the extent of the effect on organizational silence behavior shown by individuals who work in energy sector, caused by the intimidation that same individuals are facing during their work. The thesis is consisted of three parts. In the first part of our study, the concept of intimidation was examined. In the course of analyzing the concept of intimidation, the stages of intimidation, the relations with other concepts as well as the causes and the consequences are also investigated. In the second part of the study, the concepts of silence and organizational silence are analyzed. When the concept and dimensions of organizational silence are discussed, their types and reasons are also mentioned. Furthermore, organizational silence behaviors observed in employees as well as conceptual information, reasons for organizational silence, individual factors playing a role in the formation of organizational silence, factors affecting organizational silence and their results are examined. The third part of the study includes the results of the research that was conducted on 203 employees working in the energy sector. During the analysis process of acquired data Correlation Analysis, Regression Analysis, Independent-Samples T-Test and ANOVA were applied in terms of deductive statistics using SPSS 21. According to the results of this study, it is found out that sub scales of intimidation predict the sub scales of organizational silence.
